The Baba Yaga tale
presented on this site is classified as AT-313H*: The Girl Escapes from
a Witch. This tale type does not have any other tales translated into
English to my knowledge. However, it is closely related to two other tales
already presented on SurLaLune, AT-327A:
Hansel and Gretel and the ever popular AT-510A:
Cinderella.
Since this section of SurLaLune is primarily
devoted to the Baba Yaga character, and not a specific tale, this section
presents tales in which Baba Yaga appears, regardless of tale type classification.
Andreas Johns' Baba
Yaga: The Ambiguous Mother and Witch of the Russian Folktale was
an invaluable resource. His book also offers a significantly longer list
of Baba Yaga tales in other languages, many not readily available in English
translation, which are outside the scope of this site.
