Help remembering a story
I vaguely remember reading this in an anthology but can't remember which one. A young man is made the King of May. For the day he is given all he could desire. What he doesn't realize is that he is to be a sacrifice in the end. A friend tells me this was made into a movie but of course he can't recall the name of that either. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

"Joe
vs The Volcano" with Tom Hanks might be the movie since
it has a similar premise. "Wicker
Man" also had the premise of a human sacrifice.

this reminds me vaguely of the novel 'watermelon
king' by wallace...someone? who also wrote 'big
fish.'

Thank you and yes, Wicker
man is the movie my friend was referring to. I won't be watching
it as the Amazon reviews lead me to believe it to be quite bloodthirsty
and graphic. (just not my speed)
