Pan & Hook
Many thanks to Veronica & Callie for tipping me off to two new Pan and/or Hook stories; I will definitely track them down.
And here I was thinking my idea was SO original!

Re: Pan & Hook
The Peter Pan story in The Faery Reel is "Never Never" by Bruce Glassco. It's a lovely tale, centering on Hook and Tinkerbell.

Peter, Hook, & Faery Magic
Thanks, Terri, I can't wait to read it.
My work-in-progress started out as a short story, too, but it seems to have mushroomed into something entirely different.
So now we're back to the question posed at the beginning of this posting. Certainly if an original story like Peter Pan has entered popular folklore to this degree, & is sturdy enough to stand up (or possibly withstand) so many diverse modern interpretations, it must have earned the right to be called a "fairy tale."

Re: Peter, Hook, & Faery Magic
Does anyone know of any other Peter Pan inspired novels or stories to add to the list above? I'm finishing a magazine article on J.M Barrie and Peter Pan (in honor of Peter's 100th birthday in December), and recommendations would be welcome.

Re: Peter, Hook, & Faery Magic
Terri,
About a year ago I found a book at the library called Second Star to the Right, by Mary Alice Kruesi. I checked it out, but to be honest, I didn't actually finish it, it was a bit of a yawner. It was a modern-day romance about a divorcee who moves to London, and the Peter Pan legend was somehow part of the plot, but I actually didn't get far enough in it to explain how.
That's probably not terribly helpful, but I hadn't seen the book mentioned yet in this string, so I thought I would "throw it out there."

Peter Pan article
Terri,
Will you let us know where & when your article will be published? I'll be finished with my first draft soon, and eager to read other interpretations.
Thanks,
Lisa

Re: Peter Pan article
Lisa:
It will be in the next issue of Realms of Fantasy magazine, and
also on-line in the Winter (December) issue of the Endicott Studio's
Journal of Mythic Arts (www.endicott-studio.com).
If you want to see it sooner, email me via the Endicott Studio's address (endicottstudio@yahoo.com), and I'll send you an electronic copy.
Everyone:
I've been trying to track down a novel called Wendy, based on the character from Peter Pan, but don't know the author. Does anyone know if it's the Mary Carraway novel (listed on Amazon.com with no review) or by a novel by someone else?

Re: Peter Pan article
Terri,
I think you are looking for "Wendy" by Karen Wallace
www.amazon.com/exec/obido...lalufairyt
The Carraway book looks like a religious novel since its by Bethany House. I'm not familiar with it, so it might be Peter Pan related, but it's not mainstream.
There's also some remaindered copies of Wendy available on Bookcloseouts for $4.99 in hardcover.

Re: Peter Pan
A.S. Byatt reviews the new "Finding Neverland" movie at:
books.guardian.co.uk/depa...49,00.html
and spends as much of the article talking about the book as about the movie.
Cheers--
Heather
