Re: Carolyn Dunn's gorgeous new poetry volume
Hi, Terri. Nice to be here! I still work full-time editing academic science and medicine books, and with a not-quite-three-year-old at home I go online a lot less. So my visits are few and far between.

That's it: "Somnus' Fair Maid." I loved that story. Thank you so much for it.

Book
Nalo,
Congratulations! Now let's do it again with the "Mojo:Conjure Stories" collection.
My novel, FITCHER'S BRIDES, should be in the stores in a couple of weeks. I just received two copies of it. Cover art on the book is by Tom Canty, and I'm still in awe of the illustration he's done for it. He has made the book very, very beautiful.

Poetry, Again
Gothic.net is
publishing a third poem of mine, Biblical, on December
6th.
I know it's small taters next to Nalo's win...
(I cheered for that one, too!)

Re: In a whisper
Thanks, everyone. I wish I could have been there too. I got delivery of the award last weekend, thanks to my friend Peter Halasz. He'd kept it wrapped in cellophane to protect the faint moue of purple lipstick that still remained at the top of its head, courtesy Jaime Levine, my editor at Warner Books.
And yes, Greg, let's hope that _Mojo: Conjure Stories_ kicks butt. Hey, I haven't shown the contributors the cover, have I? I think I'll do that right now.

Just received proofs...
of my first children's picture book, A CIRCLE OF CATS (with Charles de Lint). It was thrilling and a relief to at last see the words and pictures working together as they should. It now seems much more real to me. The book is sheduled for a late June 2003 release.
Best,
Charles

Will this be available at bookstores (unlike Seven Wild Sisters)?

CIRCLE OF CATS will be a mass market...
hardcover from Viking, so, yes it will be (hopefully) in all the bookstores.
Also de Lint and I are talking to Sharyn November at Firebird/Viking as well as the YA editor at Tor right now about reprinting SEVEN WILD SISTERS as a massmarket hard/soft cover. That would be nice if it happens. If it for whatever reason a mass market edition does not happen, Subterranean Press (the original publisher) wants to do a reprint (unsigned). So one way or another there will be more copies available.

Publication of sorts
Hey all,
My web site is up. (Gulp) If for no other reason, please take a visit and check out Deborah Lanino's wonderful cover art for my forthcoming book. The colors are richer on the jacket, but the scanned image will give you a nice taste.

And, if you like Ms. Lanino's work, she has an online portfolio at:

Hey Kerrie!
I clicked on your link but get a "page not available" notice. I'd love to read the review - I was there and thought it was a terrific festival. Time and reality were successfully suspended for several hours and walking out onto the street afterwards was jarring! LOL! Woodland was excellent. When I saw that the audience was going to let them go without an encore I shouted "more!" and thankfully they played another song. Seeing Dark Crystal on the screen again was great. Brian was charming as always, and his affability brought everyone together well. It must be an L.A. thing, but it seems like everyone is just a tad afraid to talk to people. After years of going to nightclubs, I've noticed that even when an audience has everything in common it still thinks mingling might be considered uncool. Still, since I live here (and everyone was pretty friendly regardless), I hope they choose to hold it here again next time. It was great to be able to go.

Now that I re-read your post...
...I see you were at the Arizona version of the festival! Well,
so now you have a mini-review of the Santa Monica one!

Re: Hey Kerrie!
Yes, it was the original AZ one I performed at. The link should
still work- you need to have Quicktime to view the clip. I'm the
one weaving my arms about on the stage. Here's a link to my review
as well:

Glad to hear you enjoyed the latest incarnation! I hope everyone can come out here to Boston to have another!

It worked that time.
Thanks! Yeah, the one here in Santa Monica did succeed in weaving
magic with the costumes, music, faerie hoots and chirrups, and of
course, Brian. Congrats on the board moderation thing, too, by the
way.
