grub street arabian nights
Hi! I think I read somewhere that the Grub Street translation of Galland's French Arabian Nights has been reprinted. Does any know if this, in fact, is the first English translation of Arabian Nights and what title it has been reprinted under and who the publisher is. I tried to find it on Amazon but was unable. Thanks!

Re: grub street arabian nights
we have an article on Endicott (which derived most of it's information from the very informative introduction by Husain Haddawy's translation) that gives an overview of the history of the translations that you might find helpful here:

The Tale of the Puzzle of the Tales.

Skip down to about about half way where Frost has labeled a section II Translations.

I know we also had numerous posts about this subject earlier...I might be able to dig something up from the archives with more time.
