Morpheous the Dream King
I'm currently writing story where Morpheous, one of the seven endless plays a vital role. However, I wanted to know if anyone could point me to other stories or links where it talks about his character or the type of person he might be. I'm just trying to get a feel for things and looking for different aspects in his character.

The story is going to be ranging more towards a macabre/horror theme. Something akin to H.P Lovecraft.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Re: Morpheous the Dream King
Morpheus is the son of Somnus, the God of Sleep. Morpheus was considered to be skilled in assuming the shape of any human being, and in the tale of Ceyx and Alcyone, he is sent by his father to tell Alcyone of the death by drowning of her husband Ceyx. He takes on the shape of Ceyx and in Alcyone's sleep, tells her of his death. The next day, Alcyone goes to the sea and Ceyx's body is washed toward shore. As she runs into the water to join her husband's body, she and her husband are changed into birds so that they could share their love forever. And, as translated by Edith Hamilton: "Every year there are seven days on end when the sea lies still and calm; no breath of wind stirs the waters. These are the days when Alcyone broods over her nest floating on the sea. After the young birds are hatched the charm is broken; but each winter these days of perfect peace come, and they are called after her, Alcyon, or, more commonly, Halcyon days."

The Seven Endless are, I believe, a creation of Neil Gaiman.

Best,
Alice

Re: Morpheous the Dream King
Thanks Alice. As it is, Neil Gaimon's Dream is the only one I'm familar with.
