An alternate take on Little Red Riding Hood?
A long time ago, I read about a movie that was supposedly loosly based on an obscure version of the story, featuring a romantic subplot between Red Riding Hood and the wolf.

Can anyone veryfy this story's existence? It seems like a possibly interesting take on the story.

Do you know what the movie was? Could it have been Company of Wolves, based on the Angela Carter story of the same name?

Actually...
It was actually the Japanese film Jin-Roh, which uses mostly just names and themes from the story (it's an alternate history movie where Germany won WW2 and Japan has become a military state), but an interview with the creators brought up this particular version.

Could It Be This?
The movie might have been the black and white 'Little Red Riding Hood' starring Christina Ricci. Its plot is similar to the original tale in which the wolf is a sexual predator and there is a seductive subtext. Search this movie up on imdb.com. It's a movie database where I always find which movie I'm looking for. Hope that helps! :)

Um...
Already said what the movie was. What I wonder was which version of the story it was refering to.

One other bizrre point, given the nature of the movie, is that in this version there's a good chance that the wolf was the protagonist, rather than Red Riding Hood. This is only a guess, though.

LRRH- Love Story
Well, Perrault's tale certainly has the sexual connotations and warns young women away from charming and seductive rakish courtiers... That could be the romantic plot they were referring to. Since Perrault's tale references the fact that young women had to remain chaste for marriage, which would be arranged by her father or guardian, the wolf could very well be a forbidden love-interest.
Just a thought.
