Mrs. Edgar Lucas
I have a copy of Sixty Fairy Tales of the Brothers Grimm. It's translated by Mrs. Edgar Lucas. Does anyone know who this woman was?

This is probably Mrs. E. V. Lucas. She did many pertinent (to your query) translations, and her husband rubbed elbows with writers like HC Andersen. The only problem I'm having making the connection is that the E of E.V. Lucas stands for Edward rather than Edgar.

See E.V.'s bio here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E._V._Lucas

Further digging (say in the DLB) is required for verification.
