Essay help
I need help with an essay about King Arthur. The prompt is Is Arthur a hero or not(it's a research/opinion paper). Are there any books or essays that would help with that?

There's an entire scholarly journal you could consult. It's called ARTHURIANA. If you're in college, your library should carry it. If not, have your local or school library get you the volumes you want by interlibrary loan.

Heroism
Of course, you also need to establish a definition of what a hero is. Do you go with a contemporary one? A historical one (and if so, on what period -- that of the supposedly historical Arthur or that of the text you're studying)? Do a comparison of both?
In the 19C, Thomas Carlyle did a series of lectures on the hero, in an attempt to anchor new ideals for his times. The previous notion of the hero had been that of a military leader, successful on the battlefield and in the process of national building and fair governance.
