Birds cover children with leaves?
I seem to remember a fairy tale in which birds cover lost children with leaves (I haven't the slightest idea why they do it, but birds aren't that bright), and I thought it was Hansel and Gretel, but it turns out that it isn't. Does anybody know what this story might be?

Babes in the Wood?
I remember a Louisa May Alcott book, Eight Cousins, where the children re-enact that story-- I think it's "Babes in the Wood" but I'm not sure where to find the text :/

wait a minute...
I forgot that google is my hero. Apparently this is also (originally?) a song, not sure if that's the earliest source but here's text which says it's from 1601, melody from 1595? Now I'm curious... does anyone know if this is based on a historical event or similar?
