Fairytale I can't find
In school a movie was shown about a princess traveling to her prince with her servant. On the way there is an accident and the servant make the princess trade places with her. I know there was a handchief with blood drops on it lost. The princess had a horse and the horse hated the maid so when they arrived the servant had the horse killed and its head hung on the gate the princess used. The prince found out about the switch and resqued the princess. At the end he asked the servant what she would do if someone did these things to her and she would be pulled in a barel behind horses. This was her punishment. Can anyone help. Do you know what I'm talking about or am I crazy

You seek the Grimms' The Goose Girl.

The Goose Girl
Speaking of "The Goose Girl", I just read Shannon Hale's novelization of it and quite enjoyed it. Has anyone else read this?

I read her follow-up "Enna Burning" which I didn't like quite as much (original tale, rather than a retelling - though from a character's viewpoint from her "Goose Girl"), but still enjoyable.

Sorry if you have discussed this elsewhere - our computer has been down for nearly a month.

Re: The Goose Girl
I just read Shannon Hale's Goose Girl too and really enjoyed it. I'm now halfway through Enna Burning. So far, I like it just as much, if not more.

Re: The Goose Girl
I read "Enna Burning" right after finishing "The Goose Girl". Love the concept of 'channeling' elemental forces, but didn't find the story quite as compelling as the first one. Really liked the world that she's created there though.
