Lost - TV Series (possible spoilers)
POSSIBLE SPOILER UNLESS YOU'VE SEEN THE ENTIRE FIRST SEASON

I've been following the series "Lost" and wondered if anyone here has seen it and noticed that it has some elements taken from classic folklore and mythology.

I have noticed the following:

Changeling/Stolen Children - mysterious forces/people have stolen the children on the island = fairies stealing human babies and children.

The Hatch - when asked what he thinks is in the hatch, one character says "Hope". Also, there have been at least two "mystical" warnings not to open the hatch = Pandora's Box

The Beast - a beast in the woods and a "dark territory" = Red Riding Hood.

I feel that there are many more references and I was wondering if anyone else had any ideas?

I thought of Pandora's box too when Locke said that what was in the hatch was 'Hope'. But I don't see the changeling aspect at all-- Claire's baby was stolen by the Frenchwoman but is presumably the same baby upon return. And I can't recall-- but didn't Ethan want the baby as well? In a changeling story, a strange looking creature is left in the human baby's place. And, if I recall correctly, the only CHILD stolen was Walt and he was taken by slave-hunters, fully human, I think [or are they?]. Actually I've wondered how come there are no other children among the survivors..........
