Dryad stories...
I'm looking for different stories of tree spirits from across different times and cultures, anyone have some good links they'd like to share? I've been having a bit of trouble finding sites that let you do a vague subject search like that, even though it is pretty fun reading through a bunch of fairy tales. ^_^ Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Dryad stories...
I found an Andersen story with one in it called "The Dryad"
at hca.gilead.org.il/dryad.html
There's also a Winkpedia entry about it at en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dryad
You might also want to search for information on "fairy trees".

Ooo, yeah that should help, didn't think of searching for fairy trees. I just read the Andersen story too, it's quite good. Thanks!

old pipes and the dryad
there's a lovely short story called "Old Pipes and the Dryad" that
I first read in the children's anthology Through Fairy Halls.
Here's a link to it at amazon:
www.amazon.com/exec/obido...s&n=507846
(Old Pipes & the Dryad -Classic Short Stories by Frank Stockton)
it gives dryads some powers and attributes I don't remember reading
anywhere else..a nice little tale.

Re: old pipes and the dryad
I found a link on another thread to the Gutenberg Project, they have it printed there in a collection, "The bee-man of orn and other stories" I think. Here's a link:
www.gutenberg.org/etext/12067
Whee, nostalgia! XD I read a few of those stories a long time ago, I had no idea I'd come across them again. Thanks! ^_^
