Norse Tales
I write musicals for a living, and was condsidering working on a collection of Norse tales that would be titled "East of the Sun and West of the Moon", and include "Tatterhood", "The Black Bull of Norroway", "Mastermaid", "East of the Sun and West of the Moon", "The Widow's Son".
Does anyone know if a similar collection exists? Or have any brilliant suggestions for the show?

Norse tales
There are a number of Norse collections, but the greatest (and earliest)
is the Asbjornson
and Moe collection. They are considered the Norwegian Grimms.

Re: Norse Tales
"Into The Woods" immediately comes to mind. I'm assuming you've already familiarized yourself with that musical.
I would suggest starting by listing each character in the story and the events that happen to them. Then look at all the stories and see how the characters and events could be tied together.

Re: Norse Tales
Publisher's Weekly magazine also reports that _D'Aulaire's Book of Norse Myths_ is being reissued this summer by the New York Review of Books (after being out of print for 20 years).

Re: Norse Tales
Am I remembering correctly? Is the Black Bull of Norroway actually Scottish? Not that this helps, exactly.
I also really like FOLKTALES of NORWAY, edited by Reidar Christiansen.

Black Bull
No, there is a Scottish version of The Black Bull of Norroway, but it is considered to have originated in Scandinavia.
