Trickster dogs
I've been looking at a number of trickster characters recently, and was struck by how many are in the canine family. While Coyote and Fox are the two obvious ones, there's also Wolf (Eastern Europe), Jackal (India), and Dingo (Australia). Are there any others? And does anyone know more about the role of Dingo in myth?

Re: Trickster dogs
Can we count my coonhound, Gracie? She's been known to steal pies from stovetops, invent intruders to distract another dog from a bone she wanted, and plot sneak attacks from behind corners.... And like a lot of Tricksters, she doesn't know when to leave well enough alone....

Kernel of truth, anyone? ;)

Re: Trickster dogs
There's a dog familiar in the Renaissance play The Witch of Edmonton, which is half evil devil and half playful trickster, depending on which character it's interacting with.
