Support Endicott Studio
HELP KEEP MYTH ALIVE!
On February 12, 2005 something exciting will take place in the World of Myth and Fantasy! Duirwaigh Gallery of Atlanta, Georgia, will host an online benefit auction to support The Endicott Studio for Mythic Arts, run by Terri Windling since 1987. Participants in the auction include Alan Lee, Thomas Canty, Charles Vess, Kinuko Y. Craft, Terri Windling, Brian and Wendy Froud, Christophe Vacher, Marc Fishman, Matt Stewart and many others.
The Endicott Studio is a non-profit organization, dedicated to myth and its expression through literary, visual, and performance arts, whose mission is to honor mythic artists of the past, support mythic artists working today, and to carry this tradition into the future. The Studio is dependent upon the contributions of fans and supporters--often being
funded by Terri herself. In recent months Terri has suffered a series of health setbacks, which has prompted members and supporters of the Endicott Studio to pull together to show their support with original paintings, drawings, sculptures, and rare prints and books for auction to benefit the Studio.

Re: Support Endicott Studio
Here's an update on the Endicott Benefit auction scheduled for Feb. 12:
In addition to magical art (paintings, drawings, sculpture, and photographs), we're also auctioning off signed books and chapbooks donated by Charles de Lint, Ellen Kushner, and other fantasy writers -- including a complete set of the Ace Books/Tor Books "Fairy Tales" series of novels (signed by me, as editor of the series) and a complete set of Borderland anthologies.
Please spread the word to anyone who may be interested.

A few more details...
Here are a few more details:
Just so you know, Bill Schafer of Subterranean Press has just generously donated a copy of the gorgeous and very limited (only 36 copies I believe) 'letter' edition of SEVEN WILD SISTERS. This edition comes in a deep red, linen tray case with a bound in, matted original pencil drawing by myself as well as a, special to this edition, chapbook containing Charles De Lint's original story notes illustrated with my initial character sketches. And of course a s&n copy of the book itself. All editions of SEVEN WILD SISTERS were out of print before it went to print so any copy of this book is hard to find but this edition is particularly difficult to find.
And Neil Gaiman and I are donating a copy of the boxed set (#1 out of 300) of six Stardust prints that my own Green Man Press has been producing. These print sets are signed by Neil and myself and come in a lovely blue, foil stamped leatherette case. Unigue to this particular boxed set, will be original, signed drawings by the both of us on the inside, duo toned cover sheet. The prints can be viewed here:

Enjoy!

Re: Support Endicott Studio
Photographer Stu Jenks has donated a photograph print for the auction. I am not sure which print yet it is...but have a look at the site above. All of Stu's work is quite moving--fiery spirals that seem to float above the desert or drift between the trees. For more information on Stu check out the article Spirals and Circles

Re: Support Endicott Studio
The auction starts tomorrow (Saturday, Feb 12), at approximately 7 pm EST. To get to it, go to the auction info page on the Duirwaigh Gallery site, which will provide a link:
www.duirwaighgallery.com/about_news.php?section=60
It runs for a week and will close again at 7 pm EST on Feb. 19.
Some amazing art has been donated for it, copies of which will be posted when the auction begins. If art and books aren't in your budget right now, it's still worth just taking a look...if only to see how generous the mythic arts community is. Many thanks to the people here (Charles Vess, Connie Toebe and others) who have donated their beautiful, beautiful work. Midori and I are very touched by this outpouring of love and support for Endicott's Journal of Mythic Arts.

Endicott Auction
Just saw this in Ellen Kushner's blog: another reason to stop by the auction tonight!
"I had a swell time figuring out something special I could contribute: in the end, I went down to the basement and fetched up my pristine copies of all the American editions of THOMAS THE RHYMER: the original Morrow hardcover, with a wraparound cover by Tom Canty, the Tor paperback with a *different* Canty cover, and the new Bantam paperback with that stunning Kinuko Craft (www.kycraft.com/Detail%20pages/Thomas%20the%20Rhymer.html and signed them, and mailed the books to their respective artists, who promised to sign them as well - and possibly sketch something in there for lagniappe? To provide something for impecunious buyers in the auction, I signed some cover flats from Kinuko’s THOMAS, which I hope she’ll also decorate. We'll see . . ."

More Work on the way
Angi Sullins of Duirwaigh Gallery just informed me that there is quite a bit more work to come on the auction site! (eBay loads slowly!) So keep on checking back as this is a reaallly big (and quite delectible) auction! She expects more work to come during the week. Late pieces will be auctioned for a full week, regardless of when they arrived.

Re: Wow!
Right now there's a real range of prices, from $25.00 to $4000.00...we wanted to include work at both ends of the scale so there would be something for everyone. I'm drooling over the things I can't personally afford to bid on myself...Tom Canty's painting, Charles Vess's, Alan Lee's "Gormanghast" drawing...<sigh>
We also have prints of my art for sale at the more modest price of $30.00 (or $75.00 for 3), all proceeds of which go to the Journal of Mythic Arts, so that's another way to donate to the Journal. Those are on the Friends of Endicott page on the Endicott site: www.endicott-studio.com/friends.html. There are three different images available now, and we'll be adding 3 new ones in April (when the Spring edition of the Journal goes live).
