Once Upon a Mattress
For those who can get U.S. television, the ABC network will be broadcasting a remake of "Once Upon a Mattress" (a funny twisted version of the Princess and the Pea) with Carol Burnett starring, but this time as the queen mother Queen Aggravain. Tracey Ullman will play the role of the princess. The New York Times gave it a very good review. Times: 7 p.m. Eastern and Pacific times; 6 p.m. Central time.
Best,
Alice

Re: oops
It's also airing on CBC in Canada, though unless one is using antennae, one should be able to get the US channel (which will be replaced with the Canadian one anyways).

Re: oops
I copied the schedule of MSN entertainment TV guide. These are Vancouver (BC, Canada) times and channel numbers, but it still may help.

The MSN TV guide link is tv.msn.com/tv/guide
but you may have to poke around to adjust it to your area and provider.

MSN is using Zap2It's database. You can access that guide directly at zap2it.com. It's been a little slow lately though.

Re: The Snow Queen
Unregistered Userfortunately they don't say what version. There's a classic Russian version that's quite good and a modern version that's poorly done. Although the latest trend has been to re-do many of the classics in computer graphics.
I'm looking forward to "The Story of the Selfish Giant" which will be on EWTN tomorrow at 6:30am. If it's the version I'm thinking of it was quite well done.

Re: The Snow Queen
I got a brief glimp on the advertising preview on TV for the Snow Queen - it's not animated, and the Snow Queen seems to have black hair - does that help? I will check on MSN for the description of the show, it should say the producer and year of producition.

Re: The Snow Queen
I loved the prince's character in "Once upon a mattress" - he was adorable. Carol Burrnet as the queen didn't do it for me - I would've loved Angelica Houston. But that's just a matter of personal preference. I love Angelica in "Family Adams" movies, she is perfect (as is most of the cast - Joane Cusack is unforgetable as Debbie - "No mercedes for you, Debbie, we have to set an example!" :-). Angelica was also a great villian in one other movie, can't remember the name, aslo a fairy tale, she was a witch.
"The Snow Queen" seem to be an hour show, like Christmas special, not the whole movie. This was one of my favourite tales, I wonder will I like the show.

Houston and Matress
I think you're thinking of "The Witches," it was based on the book by by Roald Dahl. I think the best role of a villian she played was Baroness Ramila de Ghent in "Ever After."
As for Once Upon a Matress, Our school play was going to be that. But that was before our Drama teacher was fired. I watched it and loved it. Tracey Ullman rocks out loud and Carol Burrnet was a great Aggravain. Though I heard that some of it was cut for time, I still love it.
