Canon Tales: Cinderella (or what happened to the project)
Hi,
I know the Canon series was done in Israel. I also know that the rumor's of Cinderella's existence come from the back of a canon cover, but what I wish to know is how far into production did this tale go? I have seen various dates attached, including 2002. Biographies of Diana Rigg and Cloris Leachman both list the film, but the real question is, what happened to the series? Did it run out of funding? Did the entire studio go kaputt? Was this movie in production, pre-production, or post production when this happened? I have looked all over the Internet and have found very little information on the demise of the studio that produced these films. Do anyone have any information, including if it was a rumor from the back of a VHS cassette when and where was that cassette produced,

Cannon's Cinderella
This film, from whateveryone knows, was never in production. The series was very rushed. They shot back to back(not to mention sometimes, simultaniously). When Rumpelstiltskin was released to theatres in '86, it made very little money. They decided to continue with the others, but send them straight to video. Cannon Films' video company(newly formed at the time) distributed them through Warner Home Video. It is not known if the Cinderella cast was real or not. There is no more evidence except the back of a storybook for Sleeping Beauty.
This is really a total loss since all the others were so wonderful. Mabye some footage was shot and we might get to see it on a DVD of an existing Movie tale.
I do know that Cannon and Cannon Video went bankrupt in the early 90's(that's whay they are so hard to find). Their rights to their films were all sold to MGM(who released Red Riding Hood on DVD on this date last year).
So far, all we get is occassional Christmas time showings of Snow White and Sleeping Beauty for the past 2 years on WGN.
