fairy tale film genre and adaptations
As part of my dissertation ( Disney's adaptation of 19th cnetury tales illustrate a change in values according to the contemporary culture - exemplified in The LItte Mermaid) I need more material on the fairy tale film as a genre and adaptations of fairy tale into other medias than animation, can you suggest anything?

Just to make sure, have you already perused the list of Modern Interpretations of The Little Mermaid available on SurLaLune? Here's a link:

modern interpretations
I have seen the references, but I was more looking in terms of some theory on the subject as such, not particularly The Little Mermaid, but fairy tales in general.

Peruse the referenced writers under the annotations Heidi has for The Little Mermaid. You can also look at works by writers like Zipes, Franz, Bettelheim... They'll have the more scholarly work you want. You'll also need to go you your university's library and start digging deep into what others have written for journal articles and dissertations. It'll take some poking, but you'll find lots of stuff. (I know, my exiting seminar was fairy tale related as well). If you need help, the librarian can get you started and help you find where to start your search.

BTW, if you search for Disney too, there's been a lot of work done article and thesis wise pertaining to Disney's works.

I'm not sure if this film would satisfy the parameters of your paper, but "The Story of Roan Inish" is a great movie that uses the selkie stories to wonderful effect.
