Chabon on Pullman
I know we've discussed Pullman before. Here's an essay/review by Chabon of Pullman's HDM series. It articulates many things about the series that I've felt but haven't quite been able to put into words, especially in the essay's end. Also, I was very interested in his thoughts on the Tolkien vs Milton strains of fantasy. An added benefit: he has great things to say about fantasy vs "serious literature."

Re: Chabon on Pullman
Oh, but that was beautiful - thanks you so much for posting it! The issues that he discusses are exactly the ones that made me embrace the novels at the beginning of the series, and retreat from them in discomfort towards the end. After reading the review, I must now go and reread them all immediately. Be back to discuss soon.

P.S. - Very IA.
