There was one I picked up in a book of dragons:

A little girl found a young Wyrmling, and thinking it so cute, she kept it and hide it in a family well.

As all dragons do, this one grew up and became real mean. A man goes to kill it with the advice from the witch, who told him that the dragon will curse him that if kills the dragon, he must also kill the next thing he sees or else be cursed.

It turns out to be his father, and he refused to kill him, so that for 7 generations, any person who travels or take long voyages die young and horribly.
