 Falling
I'm in the process of revising a story with a theme of falling and hit a glitch. i've got the line, "She just fell, like Max in the night kitchen, like Alice down the rabbit hole, endlessly on." and it's bothering me because I feel like it should have three examples, but I can't think of another that fits the mood. Ideally, I'd like something from a moderately well known source (ie, children's books, fairytales, myths, etc.), and without strong negative connotations (such as Lucifer/Icarus/the prince in Rapunzel). I keep feeling like I'm missing something really obvious. Any suggestions?

 Falling
The only other "falling" image which *immediately* occurs to me comes from Robin McKinley's _The Hero and the Crown_, in the scene where she defeats Agsded and collapses the tower around them and we read "she wondered if she might fall forever as she had climbed, and thus become the God that Falls ..." but that might be a bit *too* obscure. There's the giant from the beanstock, but that's negative ... ditto Nebuchanezzer from the tower of Babel ... ditto the Girl Who Trod on the Loaf ... actually, all of the connotations associated with falling, sinking, ascending, remind me of a short story called "The Mudskipper" or somesuch, which concerns a young man whose village thinks him doomed to fail and never dream because he always looks to the ground and not the stars: when he returns home triumphantly successful, the prodigal son, having made a fortune from his habit of looking where he's going, his people are abashed, to say the least. Will think more on this: it's a lovely construction as you have it now.

Have you considered using other references/resources?
Cinematic: Sarah's fall in the Labryinth; Generic: to fall in love....

 Greek
If you want to look at classical mythology, there's alway Hephaestus--who made that unfortunate plummet from Olympus after getting between his quarreling parents.

 Re: Greek
Well, and then there's Sisyphus; but again, probably not the conotation she was looking for....

 Re: Icarus
Bellerophon from Pegasus' back. His pride let him to try and fly up to where the gods dwelt. They sent a gadfly to bite Pegasus on the rump. Pegasus bucked and Bellerophon was thrown off and fell to earth.
