Sudanese traditional tales.
I'm looking for Sudanese traditional stories fo ruse with lower elementary children. I'm particularly interested in Dinka stories. Would anyone know of any sources?
Thanks
Alliki

Sudanese tales
Francis Mading Deng is the author of Dinka Tales : Tales from Sudan (I think this is the title). It is not available from Amazon. com but it is available from Amazon.co.uk, price £35, hardback. I assume from this it is rather scholarly, but perhaps the stories coud be adapted for the age-group of the children.
There's also a shorter book of Sudanese tales -don't know if any of them are Dinka-it's upstairs in my rather chaotic bedroom and I can't put my hands on it right now. Can't recall the title either-sorry about this !-but it was published not long ago by as part of the Oxford Myths and Tales series. Maybe someone else reading this can enlighten.

Sudanese tales
Me again. Here's the title of that second book: The Clever Sheikh of the Butana: Sudanese Tales. The tales are retold by Ali Lufti and the book is published by Interlink publishing as part of their International Folktales series(which offers some other great titles, by the way.) Presumably, the Butana is a tribe distinct from the Dinka but there may be some Dinka stuff there as well. The book also has some nice black-and-white illustrations.
Good luck.
