Introduction
Hello Everyone,
My name is Erin. I attend the Art Institute of Portland, studying digital film making. I’ve been lurking here for about a year and I’ve finally decided to introduce myself. I am an aspiring filmmaker, I love to tell stories. And one day I hope to be able to retell some of my favorite fairy tales. I’ve really enjoyed SurLaLune and it’s forum. There is such a wealth of information here!
Joining the forums has been a bit daunting! As I write this, I have the Black Thorn, White Rose trilogy and several of Jane Yolen’s books on my desk. I am (obviously) not much of a writer so I can be quite shy of internet communication. Especially when writers I have such respect for will be seeing my posts!
Anyway, I just wanted to take a moment and introduce myself. My friend (an animator) and I are planning to release a series of fairy tale inspired shorts on DVD so I am hoping to pick all of your brains in the future! Thank you for putting up with my babble and I am sorry if this post is too off topic.
-Erin
PS For those of you who are curious, our latest movie (a school
project) is available on our website. It's called Popcorn
of Doom. I apologize for the shameless plug.

Hello Erin
There is nothing wrong with your writing as far as I can see. Welcome to the forum-I'm a new girl myself.
Fairy tale shorts-they sound WONDERFUL ! Go for it.

Re: Hello Erin
Thank you to both of you for the warm welcome! I am so happy I've decided to finally join these forums. I just hope that people won't become annoyed by my millions of questions ;-)
We're in preproduction on a movie based on The Soldier and Death. I'm excited about this project because we're using so many talented people from my school (interior as set decoration, animation for effects, apparel for costumes, etc etc) and I am hoping that it turns out well. In any case, I've had a lot of fun working on it.
I am also doing a voice for an animated version of Beowulf. This movie is being produced by a team of instructors and students. I am really excited to see more of the work that is being done on this.
I have to admit it's a bit hard for me not to sound like a giggling school girl in Jane's presence ;-). Your books are so wonderful and I've enjoyed them for many years. I have a tradition of buying myself a book after my last final exam (for the term) and this time I bought your Tam Lin. It's wonderful! Next time I am going to cheat and get the book about the Mary Celeste and the book about Roanoke.
Anyway, I am going to stop talking about myself and go check out the other topics =)
