There is hope for all of us
and me especially. Thanks for sharing the article, Laura. I was just getting into a funk because of my sister's well-meant, but brutal criticisms of my stories. That is what I get for having an editor for a sister!
Back to the keyboard for me.

Jess -
I think it's great you're seeking out strong critiques but I highly
advise finding people outside your family. Puts less strain on your
close personal relationships. Though maybe you're less neurotic
than I am, and it will work well for you.
Rejection and hard work are part of the game, and publication won't change that. Just keep building up that thick skin.

Laura,
I am pretty thick-skinned these days, and my sister is a fantastic
editor. It was just that blow when you realize just how far you
still have to go. Then again, I always enjoy that underdog, prove
it to the world role.
