Cinderella's Stepsisters are Alive and Well
And evidently, they're dedicated to their Manolo Blahniks and Jimmy Choos. Yesterday on the morning news (Las Vegas' local FOX affiliate) they ran a story on women who are having surgery so they can fit into the designer footware made so popular by "Sex and the City". Supposedly there are women in America today who are willing to pay hundreds of dollars and go through lots of pain and discomfort to have toes shortened and heels made smaller (parts cut off!) in order to fit into the big-name shoes. (Because heaven forbid a fashionable shoe designer actually make large sizes and wide widths!) Sadly, no one on the news show mentioned Cinderella's stepsisters. I mentioned it to my husband, though. (It was too early and he was pre-coffee, so he was not impressed with my observations.)
