clothing
what type of clothing do you think of for fairy tales? this also
has to do with the time period, but not as much with dance. ;) From
what I have seen the clothing is mostly medieval, rennasiance, or
18th century.

It depends on time period, surely. So, if you're going to do a Perrault version Cinderella, we're talking fancy late 17thC gowns, big hair, pale skin, but if you were going to do a Grimm version (Aschenputtel) you might be tempted to use more medieval, peasant type clothing for the most part (due to their being more peasants and much more to do for the aspiring princess in that version).
I wouldn't go for twentieth century clothing, but I've never been a fan of C20th dress in old tales.

A couple of years ago, I did some more extensive research into the history of fashion. There are some really good books out there for this (and if you happen to be in London the Victoria and Albert Museum). I got my out of the library though so I don't have a title right here to give you.
Medeival dress changed very little over the centuries. So if you want to obscure the date of your story this might be one way to do it. Once the Rennaisance was on, fashion changed quite a bit and quickly. Collars and sleeve styles, for example, were constantly changing. Perrault fashion was square into the Baroque period. Oh, and don't forget to make sure that male dress is appropriate too and weaponary.
