Folklore and mythology of moths
Having had a recent invasion of clothes moths, does anyone know any folklore, fairy tales or mythology of these little woollen carpet munchers please?

The first thing that comes to mind is A.S. Byatt's Angels & Insects, which isn't really folklore/mythology, but is nevertheless interesting. I imagine there is a connection with the moon and transformation.

Re: Folklore and mythology of moths
Maybe not exactly fairy tales/mythology, but you can find a series of pictures by Stephanie Pui-Mun Law about moths.
Here are the links:

Hope it helps

You can check the New Testament and any Biblical dictionary, of course. It's not much, but I hope it could help. Good luck!

Re: Folklore and mythology of moths
Well I found very little
In "Encyclopaedia of traditional symbols" by J.C Cooper, all it says is "A Form of Psyche"
the Hollywood Mothman prophesys is just Hollywood twaddle as far as I can make out.
One thing that has interested me over the years.... I have 3 male friends that hate them, a phobia, but no woman I know do... is it an ancient mystic force?
who can tell

more moths
There is at least one moth-about-the-flames Aesop story I believe, and a satiric one in James Thurber's Fables for Our Times (or perhaps Further Fables.. .)

more moths
The Green Book by Jill Paton Walsh (1982) is a beautiful short children's fantasy set on another planet settled by people from Earth. There is a beautiful scene with giant moths. Also--if you don't already know it, look into the classic essay by Virginia Woolf, "Death of a Moth."
