Evil Step-Mothers/Queens
Hello,
everyone. My name is Stephanie and I am new to the list. I have,
what I think, is a great idea for a short story, but I need a little
bit of help working some kinks out of it.
I'm trying to think of fairy tales that include the evil step-mother
or evil queen/mother. Or heroines who's mothers died. So far, I've
thought of Snow White and Cinderella, with evil step-mothers. I
also thought of Hansel & Gretel and Rapuzel, but they really
don't fit the idea that I had.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

Evil Step Mothers ETC....
I just thought of a story called "Toads and Diamonds" in which a mother who has two daughters and favors one over the other and forces her other daugther to do all of the labors. There are also several film versions of the Frog Prince that incorporate the idea of an evil stepsister/stepmother. For instance, Cannon Movie Tales the Frog Prince or Jim Henson's(the Muppets) the Frog Prince(Aunt Taminella). Back to Toad's and Diamonds, one sister is lazy, much like the step-sisters in Cinderella. Also, there is a version of Sleeping Beauty that I read recently and it continues where most of us thought the story had ended, when the prince returns back to his palace with Briar Rose, his mother is part oggress who has a habit of eating human flesh. If you have any more ?'s, I would be happy to help.
