Upcoming Publications Part 2
Hello all,
On the advice of many, I am "sticking" the upcoming publications thread to the top of the board for easy reference. I have also closed the old thread and started a new one, Part 2, since I find five pages of posts a beast to sort through. The original posting, Upcoming Publications (Part 1), can be found here:
www.surlalunefairytales.c...ub_p1.html
To get things started, Claudia Carlson has sent me info on her upcoming "Poets' Grimm." I have the book cover and the poems relevant to SurLaLune already incorporated into the "Modern Interpretations" pages of the site. At this point, I actually have more info on the book on SurLaLune than Amazon, but here is a link to the book on Amazon, too:
www.amazon.com/exec/obido...lalufairyt
Also, Amazon.com has just put 24 hour shipping on Tracy Lynn's "Snow." I haven't read it yet, but have been happier with this series than I expected to be. The first two books were by Cameron Dokey, so it will be interesting to see where the series goes from here.
Here is a link:

Release date?
Nalo,
Yay! So, what's the release date on it? Will there be copies available by the time of ICFA?

Re: Release date?
The release date is April 2003, and Warner tends to work a month ahead, so I'm presuming that copies have already been shipped to stores. There should be copies available by ICFA. I probably won't make it to ICFA this year *sob* but I've told my editor that it'd be a good idea to send copies for the book room.

New Book
Just got my first copies of TAKE JOY: A Book for Writers. Not fairy tale-ish, but BY a fairy tale writer, if that helps! A number of people are stunned by how wonderful the cover is. Me, too.

new book
My new book, Drowning Rapunzel will be coming out in June hopefully. :-) It's more of a mystery/suspense rather than fairy tale, but Rapunzel does feature in the plot (the main character is modelling as her for a painting.)
I have some advance reviews already on my website, and am still waiting on some more:
homepages.which.net/~anne...etails.htm
The cover pic was really only for the website, it will probably end up being a different cover for the book itself.
Take care,
Annette.

A Circle of Cats
My first children's picture book, A CIRCLE OF CATS is now up on Amazon and B&N for pre-orders. The book is written by Charles de lint and is a 'prequel' of sorts to our SEVEN WILD SISTERS collaboration, sharing as it does the same setting, the Apple Tree Man and a MUCH younger Aunt Lilly. 28 full color paintings of dense woodlands and, among other things, loads of cats.
It's actual pub date is June 23 and I will be having a pre-release party for it on the 20th at my local bookstore (consider yourself invited, all of you!) with an exhibition of all the art from the book as well as live music, storytelling and food and drink. The signing/party will extend to the midnight release of the new Harry Potter book. It should be fun so come on down...
        Best,
        Charles
PS: Opps, I almost forgot, all the details for the signing party will be up on the appearances' page of my website: www.greenmanpress.com

The Year's Best Fantasy & Horror
Hi, folks! Ellen Datlow and I are finishing up work on Volume 16 of The Year's Best Fantasy & Horror, which will be published this summer by St. Martin's Press. It's got a few fairy tale pieces in it, including a story based on Sleeping Beauty by Theodora Goss ("The Rose in Twelve Petals" from Realms of Fantasy magazine), a version of the Green Children legend by Kevin Brockmeier ("The Green Children" from Arkansas Literary Forum), and fairy tale poetry by Tom Disch (Hansel, A Retrospective or, The Danger of Childhood Obesity" from The Antioch Review), Robert Phillips ("The Snow Queen" from The Hudson Review), and Tracina Jackson-Adams ("Seven Pairs of Iron Shoes" from Star*Line).
This volume will be my last. I'm retiring from the series so that I'll have more time to write. Kelly Link and Gavin Grant will be the new Fantasy Editors for the series, beginning with Volume 17; and Ellen Datlow will continue to edit the horror half of the book. You can find submission information on Kelly and Gavin's Small Beer Press web site: www.lcrw.net/yearsbest.
My apologies that I've been away from this discussion board for so long. Work on "Year's Best" (slowed down by health problems) has swallowed up all my waking hours, as it always does this time of year. (But not for much longer!) I'll be back as soon as it's completely done, which will be very soon.

Re: The Year's Best Fantasy & Horror
Terri, I'm desolate to see you leave as co-editor of the anthology, but also *so* stoked to see Kelly and Gavin taking over the job! Excellent choice. I know they'll do a wonderful job. I hope that your health improves.

Unicorn Novel "Legend of the Crown" new story
You guys should check this out. I stumbled across it while visiting Geoff's Unicorn Meadow page. I suspect most of you know about his site- it's widely considered "unicorn central" on the web. If not, it is at:
www.netcentral.co.uk/~geo...corn2.html
It looks really interesting and Geoff gave it very high marks.
The official site is at www.legendofthecrown.com.
The author has an email list starting to let everyone know when
the official release date is. I've already sent him mine. It is
supposed to be out sometime this Spring. Since there are so few
good new novels lately about unicorns, I thought I would pass this
info along.

ALIA WAKING
Shyly self-promoting to you all.
My fantasy novel ALIA WAKING (Clarion) is technically not out for a couple more days, but seems to be in bookstores and available online already. It isn't a fairy tale retelling, but I hope it still might interest some of you. The cover art and design, I might add, are so lovely. I couldn't be more thrilled.

*whipes brow*
Dear god, this was a much more relaxed read when I was a good, old
fashioned casual-reader. My new determination as Book Collector
has me scribbling madly on an increasingly overwhelming number of
post-it notes just so I can keep deadlines, websites, publishers
and titles in mind... damn you all and your prolific natures.
It's for a good cause... some day, it will be a library of mythic fiction to warrant looks...
Mr. Vess, I don't suppose you have any idea where the Meisha Merlin website as gone, or who I need to beg to find pre-orders for the Game of Thrones illustrated editions...?

Re: *whipes brow*
Charlotte,
Meisha Merlin's site is at:
www.meishamerlin.com/meishamerlin.html
and I did see Game of Thrones listed on the title list. I must say I am enjoying MM's editions of things, but I wish they would fine tune their copyediting.
