Robin McKinley's Tam Lin
This is perhaps more specifically for Jane, since I saw the reference to this story in her book Not One Damsel In Distress... Does anyone have an idea where I can find this story?
Thank you

Re: Robin McKinley's Tam Lin
Is this a reference to Joan D. Vinge's Tam Lin story in the "Imaginary Lands" anthology edited by Robin McKinley?

Re: Robin McKinley's Tam Lin
Heidi,
I really don't know. Here is all I have about the existence of this version:
"There are also short story versions [of Tam Lin's tale] (one by Robin McKinley is especially wonderful)" in Not One Damsel in Distress, about the story Burd Janet.
Any idea?

No Robin
Since I retold all the stories in "Not One Damsel in Distress" I am also at a loss as to how Robin McKinley's name comes into it.

Re: No Robin
Jane,
It's in the notes at the end about the "origins" of the stories you retold...

Robin's Tam Lin
We have been at crosspurposes here. I merely mentioned Robin's short story in my book Not One Damsel. I have just sopent much too much time trying to find the actual story in the actual collection. I keep thinking it's in DOOR IN THE HEDGE, but maybe not.

Robin's Tam Lin
I was going to suggest her website, which has a bibliography, but unfortunately it doesn't list individual stories and the excerpt from The Door in the Hedge doesn't seem to be a Tam Lin one. If you want to take a look, however, here it is:

www.robinmckinley.com/RM_Biblio.html#SS

There is a place on her website where you can ask the author and in this case, that might be the best way to go.

I know where it is
If you're looking to buy the book I just found it on Amazon other wise you should be able to find it at the library or bring it in on an inter-library loan. If none of that suits your fancy they have a whole bunch of interesting sites that I found on GOOGLE.

Happy Hunting,
Liz

Re: I know where it is
I do have the Door in the Hedge, but on the four stories in them, two are retellings (The Twelve Dancing Princesses and the Frog Prince) and the other two are original tales (The stolen princess and the Hunting of the Hind). None of them looks to me like a Tam Lin story, but then, maybe I didn't recognise the pattern.
Anyway, thank you for the website suggestion, I had forgotten about it.
