the princess on the glass hill
hi, i'm doing a modern tranformation of the princess on the glass hill, and i'm just wondering what the values and attitudes in the fairytale was. i'd really appreciate it if you could make any suggestions. thanks!

Can be a bit more specific about modern transformation? Are you rewriting a modern interpretation of the tale? Anf it might help to know what version/variant of the tale are you reading? There are quite a few and while they share similarities, there are some interesting differences (point of view being one--is it a tale told from the princess pov or the young man eagerly trying to get up the mountain)

Could you tell us which central value *you* are seeing in the tale? This would help me form an answer that is toward your thinking rather than toward what might be my own form of thinking.
And Midori, thank you so for your generous trying to help me with that story re funerals/books. I am still mucking out the stalls on that one out--( grin)

Slightly off topic
I came across an interesting twist on the princess and the glass hill in a book by Susan Dexter, called The Prince of Ill-Luck. The book itself isn't a retelling of any particular fairy tale, but one section does deal directly with it.
