Cat Eyes
I am looking for a particular tale--eastern European--two elderly sisters--fireplace--and a bowl containing a pair of cat eyeballs.....does this strike a chord with anyone?

Variant?
Hmmmm...sounds like a variation on the three old sisters in Greek myths (Grachae maybe~? Am far from home and my research library) who share a single eye.

eyeballs
The Graeae (grey ones)? The hero steals the eyeball so they can't see and are forced to help him...
It's not eastern European, but there is a NWC story or stories about the hero being offered a bowl of berries by a supernatural being, berries that are really the eyeballs of drowned men.

Cat Eyes
In the story I'm looking for, the woman/women put the cat eyes in their own eye sockets and change into a cat. When the bowl falls and breaks, they can't change back to human form. Does this sound familiar?
