WorldFantasy, ANyone?
This may have been covered earlier, but who all here will be going to WorldFantasy this month?

I'm a comming...
That is if I actually finish all the paintings for the children's book I'm currently working on! I was scheduled to wrap it up on the 15th of this month but as yet am only about half way to the finish line. I don't really mind as I'm having an absolute blissfull experience working on these paintings for this project. The only bad thing is that I'll have to send the artwork off to Viking before WFC and wont be able to display any of it. Also I had planned to finish up several other projects before going (covers for books by George Martin and de Lint as well as that story for Jane that I've been promising for years and years and years...sigh) and have those to display also. I'll have to hunt around for something to fill my art panels with.

See you there.

Well, guess who's on the programming staff?
You'll recognize me by the name tag - except for Charles, who'll maybe recognize me by face - assuming they don't mis-spell it, like it was at WorldHorror. The badge, not the face. Y'all know what I meant.

I'm excited to be meeting all of y'all; if you can't see the badge, just listen for a very hillbilly accent...

and remember, if anything weird happens, I didn't do it, and I promise not to bring any BioHazard stickers to this Con.

Unless I can find where I packed them.

Re: WorldFantasy, ANyone?
I won't make it. I've never been to a World Fantasy Con, and it won't happen this year, either. Just too strapped for cash. But someday, someday...

Hope the folks who do go will post trip reports.

See, and I was really hoping to meet you...

yes!
Delia & I will be there for the whole thing - we always have a great time seeing everyone - it's like a big annual family reunion - and since Bantam will be bringing out our new novel (THE FALL OF THE KINGS) there, we will be EXTRA "on": Delia is pledged to wear both of the new skirts we just got in Paris - you sure as hell can't wear them on the streets of chowderish Boston without feeling overdressed....that's why we love WFC!

Charles, put the pedal to the metal on overdrive, whup those deadlines and get on that plane!! Jane, Holly, et al - see ya soon - and other SurLaLunatics, please be kind to my fizzing brain and (re)introduce your honored selves!

**For our Twin Cities-area friends: Even if you're not coming to WFC, we'll be doing a reading/signing of KINGS and of my new CD, "The Golden Dreydl: a Klezmer 'Nutcracker'", at Dreamhaven on Tuesday, Nov. 5th around 5:30 - please come by even if you can't shell out for this ridiculously overpriced "family reunion" over the weekend...**

Best,
Ellen

Additional WFC
I might add that Sunday evening, my son Adam's Irish band is having a record release party at
First Ave, and many fantasy celebs will be there! Find me at the con and I will give you information about it.

I'm getting excited
Are there any other events around WFC I should know about before I trick Travelocity into a cheap non-stop from Knoxville to Minneapolis? But then I might have to find crash space for any extra days...
*sigh*
So I should just walk up and say "hey, I'm JaNell from Sur La Lune?" It depends on how brave I am that day...

Maybe I can just wear a tag saying, "I'm a Lunatic, how 'bout you?" which would be useful on most occasions.

Rats. I have to leave early Sunday morning, so I'll miss that.

Come on, kiddo
If you can't come up to folks and say, "Hi, I'm. . ." it's gonna be a lonely con. We are ALL friendly folk, and kissing kin, etc.

Come on, kiddo
Kissing kin?
Um, I *do* get a choice, right?
<grin>
But I already do know several people coming - Charles and Charles/Mary Ann and Neil and Alan and John and Elise and Gene - so if I get that shy, I'll just tug on someone's sleeve and point at the next victim...
Although the last time I did that, it ended with me getting Declared Dead To Harlan Ellison, within three minutes (a new record for him, I think).

I won't be there -- I'm in the English half of my year and it's just too far to go. But have a great time everyone!

I wish, I wish...
I wish I could go! Unfortunately, I'm in the middle of planning my wedding (still no dress!), looking for a new job/career/starting my own business/freelancing gigs (just resigned from my job), and still trying to settle into my apartment (after being here a year). Oh, and staying sane!!!!!!! I have been planning on going to Wiscon for my next out of towner- a big reason is because it's the weekend before the wedding, and I'm sure I'll need the break from my sweetie and our families! (Or maybe I'll convince him to come with me and we'll elope.)

Hmmmm, maybe I could write a paper on "Happily Ever After" or something.

Ellen: You can wear ANYTHING you want in Boston! I wore a blue ball gown (the one I danced in at the Faerieworlds Festival) to work a couple years ago- I had a blast walking through Copley Square!

I hope everyone has a great time!

Forest frosts,

Kerrie
