just stumbled in and would like some advice
I love fairy tale books and I am trying my hand at writing one. Where is the best place to go to get published? I am new at letting others read my writing not writing itself Also I just got my computer any good writing programs anyone would recommend? Thanks so much

Advice
Bunny,

New writers often ask this question and there have been a number of threads in the past that have provided excellent advice. So, what I would suggest is have a look at the Surlalune Board archives and try a search for "publishing." This should bring up some useful information. If you still have questions--perhaps more specific ones, then come on back and ask away. Good luck.

other books
Dear Bunny:
there are also books at the library and at bookstores on writing fantasy that might be of interest to you I think.

Generally speaking, if you *listen* to fairytales being told aloud, you begin to get a feel for their underlayment. Reading Yeats and others who wrote their own fairy tales would likely I think also give you the feel for the structure; which actually is quite broad. There are literally hundreds of underlayments to tales. Some have repetetive formulaic structures as written, others are of the "nothing comes to a clear end" type, others grow like flowers in a gaarden, every color and height and root form imaginable. It seems that each person finds their preferences, both in study, liking, and if they are artist, in their art.

best wishes for you to find yours
