Question about Film Adaptations of Fairy Tales
Hello folks

I'm currently preparing my proposal for my MA thesis in sociology, which intends to investigate the changing gender role depiction in film adaptations of fairy tales.

However, I am having a few sampling issues, and I was hoping for some assistance.

I have had much difficulty in compiling a list of all fairytale film adaptations within the last decade. The film guides that I do possess do not have an index listing for fairy tales, which has proven to be problematic.

Does anyone have access or know of someone who has compiled such a list? I haven't investigated the Leonard Maltin books, but I believe he also doesn't have an index listing of fairy tale movies.

Secondly, does anyone know how to discover rental revenue information for 'Snow White: A Tale of Terror' (1998 ). It had Sigourney Weaver and Sam Niell, for those who may have seen it. www.imdb.com has /some/ rental revenue information for films, but not for this particular one. I'd love to use it in my study.

Thank you, ahead of time, for any help anyone can provide.

Re: Question about Film Adaptations of Fairy Tales
I haven't seen a listing of fairy tale film adaptations in my research either. But we could also compile a list here. I wouldn't mind adding it to SurLaLune either since it is a frequent question and topic for discussion. Would you like to start by sharing the list you have created? Most of the ones I can think of from the last decade have been made for TV movies, but here is my quick list of the classic European tales--not very well thought out.

Ever After (Cinderella)
Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister (Cinderella)
The Tenth Kingdom (mish mash)
Jack and the Beanstalk: The Real Story
Willa (Tom Davenport)
Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella (with Brandy)
Snow White: The Fairest of Them All
Snow White: A Tale of Terror
and on the edge of the decade: Disney's Beauty and the Beast

There is also a Steadfast Tin Soldier short and a Firebird short in Fantasia 2000.
