Male Figures in Fairy Tales
I am doing an essay regarding male roles in fairy tales. Does anyone know of any good sites that they can recommend or any good issues to raise? I am researching specifically the father figure/prince. Perhaps also the inadequate males in the dwarves etc. Comments/suggestions would be welcome!
Thanks!

That's an awfully broad topic! A few more details would be helpful. What kind of a class is it? What are your length and time requirements? How much research do you have time to do? There are so many resources it's staggering, so the first thing to do is narrow it down.
Choose a specific tale or tales to deal with. Then decide if you need a special approach, if the class is geared that way (politics, history, anthropology, etc.). If you haven't got these ideas yet, perhaps a look around our lovely webmistress' site, www.surlalunefairytales.com, would help you get some ideas. Heidi has a wonderful collection of resources and lists of modern retellings, should you choose to go that route.
Keep us posted!

Re: Male Figures in Fairy Tales
Hi!
Robert Bly has written a whole book about this! I don`t remember the title, but it`s from 1993. It`s an analyze of the tale "Iron John", it`s probably just what you are looking for.
Very interesting reading, though a bit over the top from time to time (from a female ponit of wiev anyway..)
