Little Known Stories...
Hi folks. I've had a good week. It seems as though my fairy tale fiction is still a work in progress, but I've been lucky enough that taking a non-fiction slant with fable and myth is working for me -- at least at present. I sold a book this week that will focus on little known stories related to place within the state of Arizona. My editor is giving me quite a bit of range in subject matter, but wants me to stay in a story-telling style with the writing. He wants it to read like oral folklore. Does anyone have any suggestions on other books written in a similiar style? This book will have a slew of stories ranging from 300-700 words and will have photography accompanying the text. I'm currently in research mode, but when I start getting into the writing in April I want to do it right the first time around. I'm thinking that there has to be a way to write a compilation like this in a breezy, yet evocative style. Suggestions?
Carrie
p.s. Terri -- do you have any suggestions for little known stories about Arizona - Tucson - the Yaqui - or Tohono O'odham? Just curious if anything comes to mind.
