Timely heads up
If any of you listen to NPR, their going to be talking about the reemergence of beauty in art. I didn't catch the time, sorry. I figured those of you who were following the "Fine art with a capital F" topic might be interested in listening in.

Just FYI, the show was already broadcast, it was a local (Chicago-WBEZ)
show called Odyssey. If you're interested, you can listen to a streaming
audio of the show. Go here: www.wbez.org/frames.asp?H...od_ra1.htm
It's the show on June 17 "The Aesthetic of Beauty" I only caught the last half myself, but it was really interesting. The idea came from a book "Venus in Exile: The Rejection of Beauty in 20th Century Art" by Wendy Steiner. Sounds like I have another book to read.

Re: Details
Thanks for the link, Connie. And for the Steiner book, which I'm now going to go track down....

Elaine Scarry
Terri etc,
Have you read Elaine Scarry's work on beauty? See an article about
it at www.salon.com/books/featu...09/scarry/
I like her work a lot.
