Looking for Specific 19th c. Children's Story/Illustrations
Hi,

I've been racking my brain, trying to recall the title of a soft cover, magazine-like story that was read to me as a child. There was a poem with a storyline based upon candyland (as I remember), with beautifully sketched drawings and text on pink and blue pages.

Any idea of the title would be greatly appreciated!

I'm not familiar with the exact "magazine/book" you are describing, but it reminds me a bit of an illustration for "The Fly-Away Horse", by Eugene Field.

(And the Fly-Away Horse seeks those far-away lands
You little folkl dream of at night -
Where candy-trees grow, and honey-brooks flow,
And cornfields with popcorn are white:....)

It's a fairly long poem, and Field lived in the late 1800's...

For what it's worth.

Thanks so much for your response, Tara. Will try to find a copy of the poem you wrote of and see if it matches up. If anyone else comes up with another title, please don't hesitate to post! -Susan
