Kelly Link and Strange Things...
I know this is somewhat off topic, but...
I finally got my copy of "Stranger Things Happen" early
last week. I've only had time to read a bit here and there, and
tonight I discovered that my book goes from page 1 - 96; after that
it goes to pages 33 - 64 (again) and from there it jumps to 129
and continues to the end at 266. So... On the assumption that the
numbers are supposed to be sequential, (unless, of course, it's
going with the Strange Things theme or I am missing something besides
pages)- what do I do? Is Amazon responsible as I bought the book
from them? And... The last few pages of the "Flying Lessons"
story are missing! I know at least several others from this board
are familiar with or have ordered this book. Want to fill me in
on the tale's completion?
Yours in wonderment...

Re: Kelly Link and Strange Things...
Donna: Your copy is definitely defective. You should return it to Amazon and ask for a replacement.

Re: Kelly Link and Strange Things...
And it is the publisher's mistake although Amazon could have caught the error if they had the time to examine every book! Don't blame them for not having that kind of time though. : )
My experience with defective books is amazingly rare and always frustrating. My sister got a defective copy of Robin McKinley's "Beauty" a few years ago that started over at page 1 halfway through. She called me up in frustration because she was engrossed and the bookstores were already closed.
Also, I haven't read this one yet. Are there any short stories I need to be adding to my site. I think I remember a reference to a treatment of Cinderella. Please let me know since I am busily updating and creating the areas for five new tales to be launched in a few days.

Her Tiptree Award winning story "Travels With the Snow Queen" is reprinted in this volume, and also "Soe and Marriage," a Cinderella story.

Just a casual thought that you might want to send the book directly to the publisher, Small Beer Press, in Brooklyn--perhaps they will consider it collectible (for themselves). And of course they'd replace it for you.
I'm reading the book now to review it--just started it on an airplane yesterday in fact.
I wonder if the title intentionally refers to Angela Carter's fairy tale compilation, Strange Things Still Sometimes Happen. Anyone know? I suppose it must.
