Style Article from New York Times
This was in Sunday's Times--an article about a resurgence of the use of fairy tales in television and fashion--one crediting Harry Potter.

Unfinished post, sorry
One quote in the article credits Harry Potter for this renewed interest, another, "the times" we live in. So the article is a bit short-sighted, but interesting nevertheless. Nothing in here will surprise anyone on this board, but I did want to post the link, in case anyone is interested.
For those of us who "noticed a resurgence" many many years ago, this article might be aggravating--does anyone but me ever feel a tiny twinge of annoyance when people act like they've recently "discovered" fairytales' influence on popular culture? Maybe it's just me.
Kerrie, if you happen to read this: I OWE YOU AN EMAIL! I'm buried in teaching this semester. Frighteningly.

Times article
Kate: Thanks for posting this. It's an interesting article! On the whole, I think it's a good one -- more thoughtful than most on the subject -- although yes, I do object to the notion that "the obesession with fairies and magic may well have evolved from Harry Potter" -- which once again ignores all of us who have spent the last twenty years busily promoting fairy tales, fantasy and mythic arts. Sigh. But it's still nice to see the swell of interest in fairy tales noted, no matter who gets the credit -- and to see Alan Lee quoted too is a bonus.
I hope you've passed this on to your editor at Random House, so they fully understand how timely the reissue of your book is!
And speaking of owing e-mails, I owe you one too. I've just gotten back to my desk after another round of flu, and am still buried in Year's Best work....
