Grimm, Anderson, Lang, Perrault which one to get
I used to think that the Grimm's versions of fairy tales where the main ones. Is that true, or are they only the first ones written down. Should i get books by all the authers?

Authors
Leah,

Grimms are neither the first nor the only authors. Not only that but there are various versions of Grimms tales by Grimms, as well as various translations. So, if you love fairy tales you will find that there are innumerable ones, recorded (perhaps not "written") by many authors from many different countries.

Yes, you should read Perrault, Andersen, and Grimms. Look in the archives of this discussion for recommended versions. Lang collected and translated tales transcribed by the above authors as well as others. You might also wish to read Norse tales, Native American tales, Russian tales, the Arabian Nights, etc. If you are like me, once you start you will find you keep finding more and more.

Did I forget to say enjoy?

Jess
