Hello again!
Hello everyone, I haven't been posting for a while, our computer got sick with a virus and I lost all my bookmarks (including this one!) and I have been busy getting my book ready for January.
That's right, I finally got that elusive contract and my book is due out in Januray 2002, I can still hardly believe it.
On another note, has anyone read Daughter of the Forest by Juliet Mariller? It is a very good retelling fo various fairytales, seems to be a cross between the Children of Lir and the sister whose brothers are turned in swans.
It's a very good read.
Take care,
Annette.

Hi
Hi, Terri,
Thanks for the welcome. My book is called Silent Screams, and it deals with a young woman's abuse at the hands of a male relative. It isn't a fairytale as such, but there are elements of fairy tales there, such as wicked stpemothers and the heroine waiting around to be rescued, but in the end she rescues herself.
Here's a review of it:
"Abuse...rape...attempted suicide. The mere mention of these words are enough to make a decent person cringe. In Annette Gisby's powerful novel Silent Screams, the themes present do more than make the reader cringe. The story of young Jessica incites anger, sadness and disgust. It is not a new story, but Ms. Gisby tells this tale in such a way that it is easy to fall under its spell. The message that Silent Screams conveys brings support and hope to any female who has dealt with such horrible circumstances as the young protagonist. The reader feels for her. Silent Screams is everything a well written book should be." _review by author Mary Gibbs.
My second novel, I've just finished doing the first draft, is called Drowning Rapunzel, and Rapunzel features very prominently in imagery throughout the book, although it isn't really about Rapunzel at all.
More details of Silent Screams can be found on my website:

I've got the prepress pdf (unedited version) if you would like to have a look at Silent Screams by email. Just let me know.
Thanks,
Annette.
Oh and if you fancy winning a copy of Silent Screams, I'm helping to organise a contest and it's one of the prizes. More details here:
