Into the Woods

I am playing the Baker's Wife in Into the Woods. The guy who plays the Baker and I are trying to find some background information about our characters and maybe the story they originated from. If anyone has any kind of information they would like to pass along it would be greatly appreciated!

I adore "Into the Woods"!

Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine actually created those characters especially for Into the Woods. They were, however, inspired by the childless couple in "Rapunzel" (in the musical, Rapunzel is the Baker's sister).
