Goblins Hi all
I'm currently writing a book a book on 'Goblin folklore', (bit of a broad subject, I know) concentrating on N.European stuff mainly, but I would appreciate any info on goblin type tales from around the world. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Any 'classics' I should know about? I have a publisher and the contract is sorted, so this book will see the light of day, probably in 2002.
Thanks.

goblin folklore Congratulations on your book sale. The book recommendation that immediately springs to mind is one you probably already know about: British Goblins by Wirt Sikes. And Pierre Dubois's recent book, The Great Encyclopedia of Faeries, is a good source for French and other Continental creatures.

literature Are you also interested in more literary treatments of Goblins (I'm thinking off hand of Rosetti's"Goblin Fair" which you probably already know about.
And yes...congrats on the contract!

Goblins Thanks Terri and Midori
I've got a copy of Wirt Sikes - British Goblins; The Realm of Faerie, although the book I managed to get hold of is only the first in a quartet, reprinted from the original 1880 book. I'm not sure if the rest has ever been reprinted! Sikes is full of wonderful tales, but it should really be called 'Welsh Goblins', (I used to live in the Brecon Beacons so it's great reading for me). I'll certainly check out Pierre Dubois, thanks Terri. I recently got hold of a copy of Katharine Briggs 'The Fairies in Tradition & Literature' - a first edition and in lovely condition. It's a great reference source and an excellent study in itself.
Midori, I was hoping to include Rosetti's poem as an appendix, - do you, Terri or anyone else know where I need to go to sort out any copyright issues? I've scanned the web for refs, but can't seem to come up with anything.
Thanks again
