Fairy/Folklore museum or centre in UK?
Hi,

Does anyone know of any museum, visitors centre etc, focusing on fairy or folklore.

A couple of us are doing some research on the fairy-faith, have a weekend free and would like to spend it as efficiently as possible.

Thanks in advance.

Chris

Chris -

This probably isn't exactly what you're looking for, but there's an Alice In Wonderland Museum in Llandudno, Wales. It's small, eccentric, and a little hidden away (I don't remember where, exactly), but is listed in most of the tourist literature on Llandudno. Alice Liddell's family took their seaside vacations in the town.

folklore museums
Here's some info from a poster named Hedgewitch on the Froud Faery board:

"Not strictly speaking a fairy/folklore museum, but there's the witchcraft museum in Boscastle on the N.Cornwall coast (just
up from Tintagel). It's not all 'new-agey'/wiccan etc, but a really excellent place to find out about the folklore of traditional
British witchcraft, with artefacts collected over years and years by the original owner Cecil Williamson. Some of the stuff in
there is quite weird, but believe me it's well worth a visit. "

P.S.
P.S.: Boscastle is right by Tintagel, with it's great ruined Arthurian castle, so it's well worth the trip out there. The town of Tintagel itself is a bit touristic (King Arthur's Cafe, Merlin's Car Park) but the castle and surrounding countryside are beautiful. If you drive out to Cornwall from London, stop in Somerset to see Glastonbury Tor, another major Arthurian site. And Stonehenge of course.
