Nicholas Christopher ...
Hello All:
I'm out sick from classes today, and I've decided to take advantage of my unaccustomed freedom to post rather than merely lurk. I just got my delivery of Christopher's _A Trip to the Stars_, and thought that it might make for a good topic; I seem to recall seeing posts from a few other Christopher fans on this board, though mostly concerning _Veronica_ rather than this later work. I have to say that I liked _Veronica_ more overall, but that I found bits and pieces of _A Trip ..._ surfacing and resurfacing at the oddest moments. With all of it's gitchy elements - spiders, star signs, meteorites, vampires, to name only a few - it makes for an odd blend, but it all pulls together in the end (and I think that the *oddness* stems, rather ironically, from Christopher's attempt to ground this novel more firmly in reality ... if the subject matter of this work had bee n paired with the explanationless dream-like quality of _Veronica_, all of the implausibilities would have faded away). What did you all think of it? Love it, hate it, eager to recomend similiar works?
Love and Kleenex,
Helen
