Rose Red To those on board, you must take a look at Cory-Ellen's poem Rose Red on the January topics at endicott-studios.com. Not that it has much relevance, but I was beaten and abused in my first marriage for seven years. I felt quite raw after reading this gorgeous piece. Cory-Ellen -- I hope you don't mind, but I printed it and pasted it in my journal. It's absolutely lovely.

re: Rose Red Carrie - that's an amazing compliment, though I'm sorry you were in a position to give it. Thank you.
To all and most of all to Carrie: Carrie's Wolf poem is also up this month in the Coffee House, and it's really eerie in a sexy, wonderful way.

endicott Midori, the Victorian article is up on the Endicott site too -- and I have to confess that I completely bagged the whole subject of Victorians and Orientalism. It seemed like such a big subject in itself, that I just steered clear of it this time out. (I have such limited space in the "Folkroots" columns.) Will you forgive me for wimping out?! Hey, maybe you should do an article on the subject, girl!

Poems I concur with Midori--both poems are wonderful, and "Rose Red" really opens up to a surprising and satisfying coda.
Thank you, both. I hope you're writing more.
