the Mythopoeic Society
Their homepage is located at:

Is anyone here a member? Do you recommend it? Contrarily, has anyone had a bad experience? My mom stumbled on the link and was all set to sign me up, till I told her to hold off. :-) At least she's enthusiastic.

mythopoeic
Laura,
Actually they are a very reputable group--made up of academics, secondary ed teachers, librarians, lay scholars...and very passionate readers. Take a look at their awards given out yearly to get a feel for what the group is interested in. (They gave one to Terri Windling for "The Wood Wife" and one to David Almond's "Skellig"--so I know they have excellent taste.)

Skellig
That's about the person found in the shed who has wings and teaches the children to fly? If so...what a wierdly wonderful and interesting read. =)

Kit's Wilderness
If you liked "Skellig", take a look at a new Almond novel called "Kit's Wilderness". It's wonderful. Set in northern England, in a mining village, as teenagers confront the conflicts of their lives in a game involving death and resurrection.
